Why You Should Go For MBA After A Few Years Of Work-Ex

It was almost about 4 years that I was working. I still remember why I chose to start working right after my graduation- I was weary of further studies!  I had joined a company then and had been working there ever since. In the beginning it was all so good. Going to work each day gave me a feeling of being a grown up. New office, new people and associations certainly made my life so exciting. The salary was the best thing as I became independent in my own way, I was finally earning on my own and it used to feel out of the world! But then, in a few years, I realized that my career was stagnant and it has been a while that I got any raise or appraisal.

I saw new employees who were from MBA colleges, joined with higher packages and their appraisals were also smooth. It was only then I decided to take a break from my job and pursue higher studies.

Earlier I was not much keen on quitting my job as I have carved out my own comfort zone. But when the reality dawned on me, I acted fast and I looked for an MBA college in Delhi and NCR. This decision proved to be a life turning one as I immediately started to prepare for the entrance exams and dedicated my whole time to it. Needless to say it was pretty difficult for me to come back to studying and academics after years of work, but I knew this was for a better future, and this is what drove me into serious preparation.

I got through one of the renowned MBA colleges in my hometown itself. Life took a completely different turn post that. Two years of dedicated studies, taxing projects and assignments made my ‘newly’ found student life extremely hectic. I specialized in finance and I increased my networking circle to a great extent and came to know a lot of people in the industry. I got the insight of the market and came to know about it so much better! I got a great placement after the end of my course, and I realized what mistake I was doing while not opting for this so long!

That’s How You Expand Your Network In A Business School

Everybody knows how important networking is in the corporate world. Many students start making efforts to expand their network the moment they begin their MBA journey. Networking is an art that comes naturally to many. However, there are others who need to work hard to develop networking skills, form positive connections, and stay in touch even later on. If you are studying in a B school or plan to study in one, here are a few tips to help you expand your network:

1.    Networking during events

If you study in one of the best MBA colleges in India, you would get ample opportunities for networking as good colleges regularly hold a variety of events to facilitate students’ learning and understanding. The placement period wherein majority of companies come for recruitment too is a crucial period for building and strengthening relationships.

2.    Be genuine

Being genuine is probably one of the most reliable methods of building long-lasting relationships. When you show a sincere interest in another person, the other person is bound to reciprocate. People get to know when you show interest just for the sake of building contacts.  I am sure you too can recognise fake from genuine. Can’t you?

3.    Talk about other things

It’s easier to talk business when you already know another person. Informal socializing helping you get to know someone on a personal level will actually help you build better professional relationships. When I was studying in one of the colleges in Delhi for MBA, I became friends with an acquaintance based on our shared love for dance. Even though we both belonged to separate groups, it never impacted our friendship. In fact, she has helped me move forward in the corporate world on many occasions, and vice versa.

Get out of your comfort zone and meet people, interact with them, get to know them, and build genuine personal as well as professional relationships, because a wide network will always help you, whether you have your own business in the future or work for someone else. Best of luck!

The Fault In Our Educational System

The educational systems in most of the schools in our country are faulty. I am a teacher myself and I can understand that the current educational system that we have in our nation is not honing the talents of children, but trying to ‘manufacture’ people who would end up in a job with a lucrative package. I am a teacher based in a school in the capital, Delhi. I often see many students who are really skilled in a particular way, but end up aiming to land in one of the top business schools in Delhi- because MBA is the in thing to do these days!

As is the scene in most households and colleges, students are judges by the basis of the scores they secure in their schools and various other competitive exams. Students often don’t even know how they succumb to peer and family pressure. If someone has the genuine skill to be a good musician, I think it is better to let him be that way! But the concept of career is very different in our country  where passion and job cannot mingle!

It is seen that these young talents who often toil their way to get through the top MBA colleges in Delhi, or top ranked Engineering colleges, end up being extremely frustrated after a few months into their job. Very few of them, according to a study, are actually enjoying their job! This is a serious phenomenon as we are creating students who are tailor made to secure a job, but not enjoy it. This is a reason of severe depression stories among the youth and many suicide cases are triggered by professional frustration.

We should take some time in understanding what a particular student is seriously good at doing and what it is that he wants to do. Only then we can reduce the number of unhappy people working in companies!

Five Steps To Make Your MBA Degree More Valuable

After the recent surge in the number of MBA aspirants, India now has more than 1,500 business schools. An MBA degree from any college is helpful, but to be really on the top you have to graduate from the colleges ranked in the top 50 or at least top 75. The reason behind that is the curriculum and the academic refinement of the top colleges which is usually not matched by the other colleges.

MBA courses in Delhi shape the student’s career by helping him refine his marketing skills, his personality and his attitude. But apart from the college’s academic and help with skills, the student needs to brush up himself to really stand out from the plethora of so many other business graduates.

Even if you are graduating from one of the top 10 MBA institute in India, you have to take note of the following steps to get a top job in the industry.

Communication skills in at least two languages

The most vital part of marketing is communication. If you can’t put your point across clearly, you won’t be able to market your product. English is the most important language in which you have to excel, but you have to be equally well versed in a second language, which could be your mother tongue or any other language you need to use with clients.

Building teams is more vital than making friends

When you spend two years with a single batch of students, you’re bound to make friends. Although it is also important to note that those people are your competitors, or future colleagues. So rather than spending time on gossips and chit-chats, try to behave with them in a professional manner and learn how to work in teams, because in marketing, a strong teamwork can beat any individual effort.

Malls: One Stop Shopping Destination

Shopping is always a fun experience. But, if you are in Delhi you can be sure of making your shopping experience more exciting and exhilarating. This is because here you'll find a number of shopping destinations from big and small street markets to malls with branded showrooms. Delhi is often referred as the shopping paradise, where people can find anything and everything, and that too within their budget. There are shops for everyone, whether you are a tourist looking for a unique memorabilia to take back home or a penny pinching shopper who has to do shopping within a set budget. Here you'll find stores selling a range of unique and fascinating products that you would love to buy.

Nowadays, majority of people prefer shopping from malls, where they find a number of branded shops, all under one roof. One major reason why shopping in malls is so popular is that it gives an easy escape from scorching heat of sun or any other adverse weather condition. Besides excellent shopping options, malls also have hotels and restaurants where people can enjoy range of delicious delicacies while they shop. There are hotels in Saket mall, which are known for the unique dishes in their menu. These hotels  are perfect to cater tourists as well as business travellers.

For those who are fitness conscious and prefer going to gym in the evening can join fitness clubs in Saket. These clubs are located in some of the premier shopping malls of Delhi and provide training in various group activities such as yoga, dance, body pump, indoor cycling and body balance. They have world class trainers who give personal training to all the club members. These clubs offer world class facilities, including luxury changing rooms and internet stations, making your excercise a regime enjoyable.

Annual Fests: Fun Time For Management Students

What is the first thing that comes to your mind when someone talks about MBA or management schools? Students dressed in formals all geared up for presentations, back-to-back lectures, late-night group studies, campus placements, etc. are the things that come to mind. Surviving in a good management school is undoubtedly very difficult. However, it would be unfair to say that the management students do not get to have any fun at all, because they do. Almost every college- management or otherwise- nowadays hosts its annual festival which gives students ample opportunities to learn as well as have fun.

It usually starts with formation of a cultural committee composed of students from various departments after several rounds of interviews. There are other ways as well, of course. For instance, each department takes complete responsibility of all activities pertaining to the department. Students are also expected to put up a good show despite the hectic schedule observed in all good Delhi management institutes. Students try to miss minimum classes to prepare for the events in the fests. While they are required to put in extra efforts in academics after the fest, many students don’t seem to mind because they enjoy arranging and participating in the events.

Many consider this a waste of time, but what they do not realise is that organising events helps students in their overall growth as well. Team spirit, an essential characteristic of a good manager, can be learnt through such events as there is no way one person can organise the fest on his/her own. Students learn to work in teams, allocate work, coordinate effectively, manage time, etc. – everything they will be required to do as managers.

Hence, if you do manage to get admission in one of the top ranked MBA colleges in Delhi, make sure you do contribute in the annual fest in some form. Not only would you have a lot of fun, you are bound to make great friends and learn more skills in the process.

The Don’ts Of An Interview Round!

MBA serves as an entry ticket to the corporate world, one- you learn a lot about the business and organizations and two- you gain a hands-on approach on how to deal with industrial issues. But the entry into an MBA college to earn this entry ticket is not everyone’s cup of tea. You need to work hard and you need to ace all the selection processed involved.

The mba colleges in delhi generally have a stringent personal interview round which may last even more than an hour in some cases. Students in this personal round are thoroughly judged through experienced pairs of eyes on a number of bases. Ranging from the educational achievements to personal problems- the interview round has room for all types of questions you can imagine.

The mba colleges in fact are looking not only for highly qualified students, but all-rounders who can survive through the vigorous study schedules. The interview round is a great opportunity for students to prove that they’re worth it and they should avoid any such mistake that makes them look like they’re less deserving.

Here’s a list of some of the don’ts you should remember while participating into the interview round.

•    Don’t be late: Being late not only decreases your chance of getting entry, but it also drops your confidence level down. Even if they let you proceed, you’d be panicky during the process.

•    Don’t sound weak: The voice is the reflection of the confidence in you and make sure they don’t have to ask you to repeat what you said.

•    Don’t be too friendly: In the end, it’s a professional scenario and even if they let you feel at home, don’t get too casual!
You can “do” a lot to advertise yourself but you’ve also got to remember the “don’ts”.

ComBating Homesickness In An MBA College!

MBA is one of those popular courses which come with placement dreams! Students work day and night to get enrolled into an MBA college to increase the probability of acquiring a job and thereby, a stable future.

But it takes a lot to get into one of the top b schools in india. First, you have to get through the entrance exams, then the process may also involve group discussions and personal interviews, and then finally when you’ve secured a place into a top MBA college, the struggle doesn’t end there-in fact it only has begun!

The top 10 mba institutes in india are at locations which might be near to some students, but far for many!  Students have to leave their homes to study MBA and this may end up as a great challenge. Soon, homesickness is developed in these students and they are unable to focus in their classrooms. Here’s a list of things you can do to combat homesickness and loneliness so that you can benefit largely in the classes and hostels of MBA Colleges.
•    Make friends: Making a lot of friends may make you miss your family a little less. Making new friends would also help you increase your network base and you’d also be benefitted during class assignments and projects!

•    Stay busy: Don’t ever sit alone on the bed of your hostel room with your family’s photograph in your hands. This would only worsen the situation for you! Do whatever makes you happy- like reading, playing etc. Just stay engaged.

•    Learn a lot: Whatever you come across- treat it as a lesson! Learn new things and develop interest in other students’ hobbies as well!

•    Take initiative: Try to be the first one to come up with an idea for a project or a hostel activity. This would keep your mind engaged!
Studying MBA is an opportunity and don’t let homesickness stop you from making the most of it!

An MBA Degree Gives You An Edge

In everybody’s lives, there comes a few moments in which we feel emotionally weak, frustrated, or even lifeless. We let those moments pass, pull ourselves together, and carry on with our lives with fresh determination. Ultimately, perseverance is the key to victory in life. But sometimes when we introspect deeply, we find that there is something lacking that is stopping us from reaching the top. Carelessness is not the reason why we may be making mistakes, or a lack of ability is not the reason why we are lagging behind others. In those cases, a decision to pursue higher education may seem like a good idea.

I have known people whose careers really took off when they took a step back from their current jobs in order to study further. One of my friends had a wonderful job in the marketing division of a company and her work was always appreciated. She got promoted soon, only to take up more responsibilities, some of which were beyond her understanding or capabilities. She worked hard and harder and yet could not prove her mettle. It’s only when she decided to go for higher education did things turn around for her. She resigned to pursue PGDM from IILM, gave it her all in those two years, and graduated as a more knowledgeable and skilled person. She reapplied to the same company for the same position, got the job, and really proved it to herself and others that she had it in her to handle the work pressure as well as the varied responsibilities given to her.

Financial independence is precious to people, and hence it may be difficult for you to leave your high-paying job to pursue higher education. In life however, we sometimes have to take a step back in order to take a huge leap forward later on.  Getting through a top MBA college in Delhi can really enable you to leap forward in your career. Best of luck!

Some Reunions Are Special

College reunions are strange. They take you back to a time where you used to think what you want to be from what you are now. In my recent visit to Delhi, I attended our college reunion from where I had completed my MBA. Now it is counted as one of the top ranked MBA colleges in Delhi, and it was a proud moment to enter the premises of my colleges after quite a few years!

IILM - Top 10 MBA Institute in India

I realized that reunions are like time machines which take you back in time and also bring you back to reality. I did not expect so many of our batch mates would turn up, I guess everyone wanted to catch up with each other and re-kindle those crazy MBA days for a few hours. The IILM campus now looks even better with increased space and better infrastructure from what we had in our time. “Lucky are the present students!” We all discussed amongst ourselves. The initial time flew by just saying hello to so many people who we have not been in touch with. Then, noticing their drastic change in looks and appearance. Some were showing the early signs of ageing while some have had a total make over.

Everyone asked what are they doing these days, some even found prospective business partners! Most of them married and engaged, the priorities of most people have taken a different turn. Nostalgia had engulfed all of us even with different realities. Strange, once we all had one goal in life: to successfully complete our MBA program. Now we have so many more! It was a great time meeting those people of our lives who we were with, when we were still struggling to become someone.  The best thing to realize is, even when you become that ‘someone’ some relations and feelings do not change.

Hard Work And Smart Work Always Works!

If you genuinely want to succeed, then there is little chance that you will fail. I am saying this because I recently saw my brother excel in his Common Admission Test or CAT and make his way to one of the top MBA colleges in Delhi. The surprising thing about him was he started to prepare while there was almost no time left!

Get Admission Tips - IILM

Everyone who came to know about his attempt encouraged him to take the next year’s exam, but he didn’t pay much heed. Deep down, even I was scared as I know CAT preparation takes a great deal of time and practice to crack it with good score. My brother barely had any time left. I saw his determination to make it work and we all saw him transform in those days. He was absorbed in to the world of MBA and CAT. He was hell bent on getting through one of the top 10 business schools in Delhi the same year- which he did!

He took up a smart strategy to prepare for the exam. If you too are preparing for CAT in a short notice, you can take help from this! He, at first, identified his strengths and weakness. He practiced as much he could from the areas he knew he was adept. When he was confident about that, he moved on to the sections where he needed more effort. He consulted his tutors, seniors, books, libraries, etc. to get a wholesome idea of the topics.

What he did next was trying to solve as many online tests he could. All these sound extremely taxing as they require a lot of hard work, and to be honest, they are. Taking online tests did the magic for my brother and he got away with brilliant scores, surprising everyone who thought this was impossible. But he proved there is no better way than a combination of smart work, and hard work.

Skills Needed For MBA In Marketing

My sister recently made up her mind to go for Masters of Business Administration or MBA as we call it. She is been preparing for the entrance exam ever since she has made up her mind. She was initially as to what specialization she should opt for after she gets through an MBA college. I suggested her to go for marketing as I know she would pull that off.

IILM - Best MBA College in India

I had myself done an MBA in Marketing from one of the leading Management Institutes in Delhi, so I was able to come to her rescue to put an end to her confusion. If you too, have a knack of sales, branding and advertisement, then marketing is the best specialization for you.

To get into one of the best MBA colleges in India for an MBA in Marketing, one needs to have a certain set of skills. Communication skills are also a must as you are likely to get placed in companies where you would be required to exercise you communication skills on a daily basis. Reasoning skills should be sound, backed by a problem solving and decision making skills. Jobs in the Marketing sector would require you to make quick decisions and come up with a solution in case of some contingent issues crop up.

To formulate Marketing strategies you should be able to obtain the correct insights. For that on must be keen on the current affairs and keep updated about the industry and the brands in the market.

As Marketing managers, you would be required to come up with innovative promotional strategies that helps prompt the sales of the product or the service and bring in revenue.

There is cut throat competition and you need to have an edge over others to make it big. Here are some handy tips which you help you buck up in the last few months of CAT:

Rule out the possibilities of leaving out an entire section. If you think you are not proficient in modern mathematics -LEARN IT, PRACTISE IT, ATTEMPT IT! Do not just leave it in the hope of covering it up with the rest of your areas of strength. According to a professor of one of the renowned MBA programs in Delhi, this is the most common mistake that students make while preparing for MBA. Train yourself in a way where you can atleast attempt a few questions which will help you increase the score on an overall basis.
Mock tests are a MUST
There are lots of online mock tests available for you to take. Appear for these on a regular basis. They are time bound, so you would get the idea of how it is like out there!  If you keep taking tests you would become confident to answer any question during the final day of your exam. If you have attempted enough mock tests, you will mentally be ready to appear for the final exam, well in advance!
Final brush up the areas of your strength
Just before a few weeks to CAT, brush up the parts where you have gained an expertise. Keep practicing as in all probability you will score good in those parts with so much of practicing.

Role Of A Placement Cell Coordinator In An MBA College

Out of lakhs of students who give various entrances in hopes of gaining admission in the leading MBA colleges, only a few thousand manage to actually get through. Let me ask you a question. What is the first thing that comes to your mind when someone discusses the term MBA? Students furiously taking copious notes, students dressed in crisp formals giving presentations, students holding late-night group study sessions, etc. are pictures that immediately flash in my head. But my mind forgets to picture one of the most crucial parts of an MBA college - placements!

IILM - Top B Schools in India

My friend studies in one of the top MBA institutes in India and was the only girl from her entire batch who managed to become one of the placement cell coordinators of her college. Considering she has so much work with the added responsibility of managing the placements for her college, she recently managed to take out an hour to catch up with me. I asked her about the role she has to fulfil. One of the major responsibilities, she said, is bringing the top companies to the college. She told me how, despite the college being so renowned, it was unable to convince one top company to come to the college. She excitedly and proudly told me how she and the other two placement cell coordinators after days of hard work and research broke new ground by finally bringing that company to their college for placements.

Other responsibilities of placement cell coordinators include sorting the profiles companies are hiring for on the basis of courses, informing the respective students, holding group discussions and interviews efficiently, and then informing the selected students. Becoming a placement cell coordinator in the top MBA colleges in Delhi is quite challenging as the faculty selects only the best ones who can proudly represent the college. So when you manage to get through one of the best MBA colleges, make sure you go all out to become the placement cell coordinator. Best of luck!

My Struggle Of Getting Admission In My Dream Management School

Extraordinary achievements are most often achieved by those who struggle the most and yet do not let their circumstances become their excuse for failure. Have you ever noticed that so many times, the top rankers of competitive exams of the highest standards belong to the poorest of families? I have read so many interviews of just such brilliant students who succeeded in getting admission in the top management college against all odds. Without receiving expensive coaching classes I took for granted a few years back when appearing for the entrances, these students achieved their dreams through sheer dedication and hard work.

IILM - Get Admission in Top MBA College

Let me tell you my story: I took a year off after completing my graduation to prepare for MBA entrances. I joined the best coaching institute in Delhi and even attended my classes regularly. Overconfident of my abilities, I barely put in any extra effort. I attended classes, but that’s all I did. I practiced subjects I liked and completely ignored the topics I detested. I probably was banking on my luck. An MBA aspirant who seriously wishes to get through one of the top ranked MBA colleges in Delhi never has any free time. He/she is almost always busy- sometimes preparing for the mock tests and the other times just brushing up the basics. I, on the other hand, seemed to have all the free time in the world. My cousin actually thought I had taken a year off to just chill. Considering I didn’t perform spectacularly in any of the entrances, I wasn’t expecting great results. But when the results did come out, I was stunned and shattered. Never had I performed so horribly in my life of 21 years.

But I picked myself up again and decided to make a fresh departure. After all, that’s the reason behind the existence of problems and failures. This time I did everything I didn’t do the last time. I studied so hard that I surprised myself. My goal of getting admission in India’s top management college was crystal clear and I couldn’t afford to make any mistake. And the result, you ask? I got the desired course in my dream college and am currently in my second year of college. Well, they say it right; difficulties do enable us to forge our character and come out as stronger individuals!

Indispensable Skills Needed In Human Resource Management

Finance, HR, and Marketing are the most popular MBA specializations in India. And because the roles of all three types of managers vary so greatly from one another, it is only natural that each type of manager has his/her own unique set of skills. So if you are pursuing an MBA in HR, here are some indispensable skills you need to have to work effectively and efficiently in your department:

1.    Organization
It is one of the key skills an HR manager must possess and polish. While the top MBA colleges in India can equip you with the know-how of your future role, you have to make assiduous efforts to be organized at your role. This is because HR managers carry the huge responsibility of dealing with the careers of all the employees of an organization.

2.    Multitasking
The bigger the organization, the better you should be at multitasking. There would be days when you’ll have to deal with multiple issues at the same time. Sorting out employees’ complaints and personal issues, granting sudden leaves, negotiating for salary packages- you might have to handle all these activities in a single day, leaving you exhausted.

3.    Good communication
Well, this is one skill that no manager- be it in finance, HR, or marketing- can do without. Being responsible for the precious human resources of the organization, you would have to communicate with current and potential employees, management, and other people on a regular basis.

4.    Problem solving attitude
Be it the management or the employees- everyone would come to you for all organization-related issues they may be facing. MBA colleges in India train the students to treat problems as challenges and that each challenge can be overcome. As an HR manager you have to make sure you don’t get bogged down with such issues and rather find constructive solutions.

Want To Nail The Written Ability Test? Read on!

If you have been reading about the selection procedures which take place in top MBA colleges, I am sure you know what a written ability test is. A clear thought process and an ability to put down your thoughts into well-written, logical sentences is what you are required to do if you wish to qualify for the next round. But simple as it may sound, clearly expressing your point of view in a clear, unambiguous, and impactful manner within a set time limit is not an easy task. You need to practice thoroughly beforehand if you wish to secure admission in the top management college of your choice. So here are a few tips that would help you master this art:

1.    Practice a lot

The topic in itself is not likely to be difficult.  And even if you manage to put together sentences that make sense, the prospects of you qualifying to the next round would be bleak without enough practice. Hence, practice is the key element that can fulfil your dream of studying in one of the top ranked MBA colleges in Delhi. You would easily be able to find the topics that were given to the students in the previous years on the internet. Going through those would give you a fair idea of going about it.

 2.    Coherence

Pick up any article/essay that you loved. Now scramble all the sentences. Does the article still appeal to you? An essay without proper coherence is unlikely to impress the readers. Hence make sure your article is well-structured!

3.    Time management

If you are unable to complete your essay on time, even a well-written article would not help your case. Time management is one of the most crucial aspects in the corporate world, and hence it is extremely important for you to fare well on this parameter as well. Make sure you learn to manage your time well.

I wish you best of luck!

Importance Of Work Experience

Graduates fresh out of college often wonder if they should pursue MBA straightaway, or work for a few years first. After graduating from college, I too battled a similar dilemma.  Since I was very confused, I started preparing for various MBA entrances. My father asked me to do some research and find out more about the best MBA colleges in India.

I did not score well in majority of the entrances which resulted in a bad state of mind and low self-confidence. I was still confused but I replaced confusion with action. I decided to apply for jobs. Even though I still wanted to pursue MBA, I had no better option. I am happy to report that I have started working and am learning so much with each passing day. Here are a few reasons you should work for a few years before pursuing MBA:

Visit India's Best MBA College

  • More Clarity

I did get a call from an average institute on the basis of an entrance in which I had surprisingly performed well. The interviewer sensed my apparent lack of clarity and advised me to start working. Working in the corporate world would familiarise you with its workings. You would realize if you really want to pursue MBA in future.

  • Personality Development

Assuming that you have a good work profile, you would get to hone your skills helping you shape your personality. You would gain more confidence which would further help you in your future interviews and in giving presentations in a B school.

  • Facilitates Selection

A solid work experience would improve your chances of getting admission into one of Delhi’s top 20 MBA colleges. A candidate having a few years of work experience would always be preferred over a candidate with similar skills but no work experience.
I plan to give MBA entrances again, but after 2 years. I am confident I would be more prepared and focused at that time.

Also because MBA is an interdisciplinary program i.e. it derives information from all fields like economics, psychology, sociology, accounts and finance amongst others, it surely adds value to any career path which you intend to pursue, explains the best MBA college in India.

In this light it comes as no surprise that MBA has become one of the most preferred degrees that an individual wants to pursue for his higher studies. Talking candidly, the first time you wish to join an MBA degree you might be put off with the expenses involved in this 2-year degree program. Well, the least that can be said to address this concern is the fact that it is a small price that you pay for a bright future.

The Increasing Popularity Of MBA courses

For those who haven’t figured it out already, the first question that comes to the mind after completing graduation is – what next? Being from a commerce background, my first option naturally was MBA.  But getting admission in the top 10 Business Schools of Delhi is no cakewalk. It requires months of rigorous hard work.

It is recommended to take coaching classes from a reputed institute whose senior and experienced teachers can help the aspirants in all possible manner.  Apart from that self-study is imperative. Just as a dancer can’t afford not practicing on a daily basis, a student aspiring for admission in a good college cannot afford to miss even one practice session.

Undoubtedly, MBA has always been a very popular course. With passage of time, more and more people have started applying to MBA colleges. Is the increasing popularity of this course genuine, or are the students just following their fellow classmates and seniors? I don’t have a definitive answer, but I know of people who want to pursue a career in management because that is probably the ‘safest’ move. Sometimes people don’t mind settling for average colleges because MBA is not their passion. Passionate people never take anything but the best, unless there are other factors influencing their decisions.

One major reason behind the increasing popularity of MBA courses is ‘more money’. But let me clarify, the best of companies recruit the best of people from the best of colleges.  The degree itself does not guarantee a lucrative package. At times, graduates and post graduates get the same package.
I wonder if people like Rancho (Aamir Khan) from 3 idiots exist, who study to learn, and develop themselves and not for the degree’s sake. MBA is definitely a prestigious course, and in no way do I intend to discourage people wanting to pursue it. If you think MBA is the right option, brace yourselves up for the challenge and don’t look back.
