Making The Most Out Of A Job Fair

The epic chase of landing yourself in the perfect job begins as soon as one has barely begun with an MBA. Picking up corporate communication skills, polishing your personality traits and gaining the skills required to ace interviews begin tormenting fresher graduates as soon as they enrol in the course. And soon after the series of interviews and recruitment tests begin, of which job fairs are an integral part. An average candidate appears for some 5 to 10 interviews before signing up that dream employment catalogue.

However, the adage “Practice makes a man perfect” is not quite true in case of interviews; at least not unless one realizes the key to crack it. Candidates at even the top MBA colleges in India are caught in conundrums of clearing an interview. The interviewers are picky as ever and since recession has constantly been playing peekaboo, the competition here is more now. So, making the most out of these job fairs is quite critical.

Well, first you need to zero down on the kind of jobs you are looking at. For each different role your CV should ideally be specifically edited, however, that’s not possible at a job fair so you need to low own on a broad job role at least, advices a professor at India’s top business school.

Second, create a mental sketch out that summarizes your CV in a few words so that you can give an impressive summary to HR executives that will immediately attach weight to your CV. This will not only introduce you as someone who is efficient and pays attention to detail while it will also fulfil the simple cause of easing out the work for the interviewer to skim through all those pages.

Third, go through the invite and the website beforehand as it may contain a brief synopsis of the event and the employers who will be participating. Needless to say, how priceless that information can be for you.

Cracking CAT!

CAT is not a CAT-walk, we all know that. But it is not an incredibly tough nut to crack, either. People and websites have done it time and again; we are doing the same- only with a hope to do it in a more comprehensive and consolidated manner.
Here you go!
  • Adapt to your skill level
Always start out on an easy level. Don’t bombard yourself with the difficult ones, unless you are absolutely sure of your capabilities. Be flexible with yourself. Kick start with easy questions and then move on to moderate and difficult ones. Grasp the basics first, they are utterly important. Unless you are sure that you have nailed the basics, don’t move forward. Work on your basics till the time you have them out and through, says a professor at an MBA college Delhi.

IILM- India's Best MBA Colleges
  • Prepare in whatever way you want
Be in full control of your CAT preparation. There will be teachers who will control the way you make way out for your preparations. For ex, they will tell you not to take full tests until June. But you don’t always have to follow the advices thrown at you. If you feel that you are ready to take up the tests as early as May or June, do it. If you don’t, then even that’s okay.

  • Identify your areas of strength and weakness
Identify your areas of weakness and strength, work on them. Yes- work equally on both so as not to let you strength dwindle in the process of structuring your weakness. Chalk out a strategy, and practise.

  • Don’t think, just work
Nurture realistic and sensible expectations.  Don’t dream about getting into the top 10 MBA colleges in Delhi without giving in your best. Work first, dreams will follow suit.

Here are some more tips to preparing MAT:

  • Plan your time strategically

Geeks And Geniuses?

If you have survived the label of ‘geek’ all through in your school and college life, irrespective of whether you have been one or not, then congratulations- you can spend your entire life striving to meet people’s seemingly unrealistic, and overtly far-fetched expectations of carving an impeccable career curve.

So whether it is about landing on a white collared job with a phenomenal pay, or getting admission into the top MBA colleges in India for higher education, ‘geeks’ are the worst hit. Boggled down by the expectations to score exceptional, they study. And study. And some more.

Geeks are Gods. Or they are considered so. But are they really?

I remember a few average students in my class whose names had the notorious label hinged to them. Average students, I will say again. Just because they have their noses buried deep into books and stuff all the darn time doesn’t imply that they are some Greek Geniuses. They are, at most, hardworking and diligent, and perhaps way too serious for studies and the typical future-cum-career-stuff.

So while a college professor aired her favouritism for a ‘geek guy’ in my class last week, I was NOT taken aback. Yeah, teachers have their favourite student, that’s absolutely normal. But then when she reposed belief in him saying he would make it to the top b school in India, I was a little bewildered. Okay, being hardworking to score a 90% graduation is one thing, cracking CAT to get into top-notch colleges by making a slash through the cut-throat competition is quite another.

Geeks are NOT gods. They are human beings, average human beings rather who study aggressively in a hope to make through the cruel competition. There is nothing particularly exceptional about them, only that their behaviour, which is often a hazy portrayal, is often misconstrued as something as plain and extreme as ‘geeky’.

Nailing The Verbal Section

Management exams are mired in difficulties and challenges. Cracking CAT and other entrance examinations is no cakewalk; dig deeper into the nuances of these exams and the verbal section would stand tall on all the challenges.

Things are easily said than done. You study hard and you bell the CAT that, ideally, is the mantra. Sadly, with competition as cut throat as that witnessed in CAT and other management entrances, getting into the top B schools in India has gotten a tough nut to crack. Adding on to the pile of problems is the verbal section that gives students the dreaded jitters.

So the million dollar question is- How does one nail verbal without freaking out too much? We have a solution. Just read on!
•    Read, and then some more
If you are an avid reader, you have all the reason to rejoice in the world! Half the battle is won when you have literary, political or art work at the helm of your daily reading rituals. Verbal is all about taking the language English by the horns, and once you get into reading, the bull would not be that difficult to tame!
•    Work on Grammar
Grammar is a tricky area, but since you have jumped into the ring, let’s tackle this too. You can smoothen out the rough edges in your grammar by
a)    Reading. A lot.
b)    Conversing in English with your family members and friends.
c)    Looking out for grammatical errors in the write-ups you come across while reading.

•    Don’t mug up. Try to grasp the contextual meaning of the words learnt and incorporate them in your daily usage. This will you will get their meanings better without forgetting them ever. Also, take as many tests as possible. Practice, a lot, and you will find yourself sailing easily through it.

Reservation in B schools

What do people exactly mean when they are referred to as ‘minority candidates’? Has it something to do with being other than the ‘general’ category?

Apparently yes. Minority candidates are often considered the lucky lot that thrives on the crutches of reservation. Since times immemorial, the subject of reservation has been subjected to a lot of flak. Battles have been raged to slash it off the system. Yet, it continues to ride on the backs of our leaders. As omnipresent as it is, chucking it out of the system calls for nothing less than a revolution.

IILM : Top B Schools in India

The question that next arises is the area that the metaphorical monster has penetrated- engineering colleges, Delhi University Colleges, and to top it all even MBA colleges, too. It might come as a surprise to those who never knew top B schools in India under the dark purview of reservation. It’s surprising, as well as sad that institution as prestigious as IIMs have not remained untouched.

Yes, minority students do have an advantage over general students. A massive advantage that weaves a huge difference between what is done what is ought to be done in the education system. National level government B schools like IIMs, IIFTs, NITIE, FMS, TISS have over 27% reservation for OBCs, over 15% for scheduled classes, 7.5% for Scheduled tribe, 3% for differently abled, and the rest, quite obviously, for general. The distribution, quite inarguably, is disturbing.

Apart from the above mentioned categories, that of LGBT also gets the tick mark of being the minority. While Indian B schools support reservation, International B schools are relatively untouched from the malaise, as some call it. Reservation is done to bring equality into the system, but what it ends up doing is robbing the system of equality. A big divide between the general and the minority speaks volumes about it.

Worshipping Iitians And Iimans: Worth The Fuss?

What kind of facial expressions are you greeted with when you tell people that you are studying in a top MBA college?

Expressions of disbelief? Furrowed brows on the verge of disappearing into the forehead? Or a curiously happy face, perhaps?

IILM : MBA colleges
I still remember the time when my brother had broken the news of his admission into family. Had it not been for the never ending phone calls from relatives or a deluge of messages on Phone and Facebook, I would probably have not realized the reason of the ruckus brewed out of it. Clearly, as it was made out later, getting into one of the best MBA colleges in India was not only a big deal- it was like an advent of a virtual standstill for all the ongoing activities. Like that’s the biggest thing to have ever happened to them. All this while, a younger sibling who had scored less in boards was as good as pushed into oblivion.

That achievers be worshipped with embraces and appreciation and the ones who failed be not even asked once, is a rather peculiar trend. It’s human to exalt the worthy, but to belittle or ignore the ones who couldn’t make it, if not inhuman, is terribly discouraging.

Many people nonchalantly thrust the blame of this weird impassivity on the Indian mentality. Maybe it is, maybe it is not- a question of Indian mentality in particular. Human beings everywhere are like that. Maybe we are hardwired to believe that our children are meant to meet our traditional expectations and maybe, we are not as prepared to handle the situation when we come across a result that is slightly disappointing. Regardless of how many times we say that achievement should be treated with humbleness and failures with patience and encouragement, that’s not how it really happens in the society. ‘Blowing things out of proportion’ is the ultimate way, most of the times!

Change The Conventional Mindset Against Mba Courses

Very much different to what’s assumed in the last few years, the real challenge lies in post-graduation. This is the time wherein every student has his own reason to feel butterflies in tummy and this actually is the right time to make an life transforming decision. But unfortunately, it’s been observed that this is the time wherein every other seems to be confused in his differently and making pot-shot guesses.  This is the time when a student realizes that life is not bed of roses and what was the relevance of father saying when you will earn. You will realize how money is earned. On one hand wherein it’s a no secret that many of us are unfamiliar to the apt definition of giving right start.

It’s been seen that many of us still entertain the wishy-washy concept of not being able to relate being from non-commercial backgrounds. Well, keeping aside this mindset, the fact is that there are many students who are from non-commercial background are taking in active initiative in joining MBA courses so as top mba college  that have bucket full of option to offer to their students.

It’s though a fact that an individual from non-commerce background can join in MBA and be a part of top b schools in India, there’s something simultaneous that has to be considered. Remember, finance and economy is not a cup of coffee that every tom, dick or harry can try his luck on. Concepts, analysis, case studies, familiarization with commercial principles are important and are a must for every MBA applicant.

So if you are from science or arts stream and were entertaining any sort of conventional mindset then you do not need to think much. Here’s the right time to dive in deep to a new financial world.

Cat Refurbished: Boon Or Bane?

Change is obstinate. No matter how hard you try to avoid it, it would still creep into our lives. Be it negative or positive, it has that uncanny ability to shape up our lives. And that’s precisely the reason why many students are now frightened about their future, for a major change has been introduced into the CAT pattern, effective from this year onwards.

Common Aptitude Test, popularly known as CAT, is one of the most prominent (read difficult) entrance exams for admission into MBA colleges. The very thought of taking CAT sends a chill down people’s spine for it indeed is one of the trickiest exams in India. What has compounded the situation and left people bamboozled is the revised pattern of the exam.

The number of questions has increased and the time too has been ramped up to 170 minutes (from the 140 minutes). Since both- the number of questions and time has witnessed a snowball effect; the percentile too is expected to hover somewhere higher in the stratosphere. Clearly, a tougher percentile cut-off is expected to get into the Best MBA colleges in India.

And if you think that this is it, well, the tone of this sentence alone will tell you that it’s not. In a bid to improve the CAT 2014, it will only be conducted over a short span of two days, consisting of four sessions. The exams will be held on November 16 and November 22.  As an added advantage, students will be allowed to hop from one section to another and devote more time to the section they think they can do better in. The flexibility has enabled students to heave a sigh of relief.

IILM : best mba colleges in India

When a whiff of change was spread in the air regarding the changes, there were some serious apprehensions. For a student who has been preparing for the exam for over many years and is giving repeated attempts just to get into any of the top colleges in Delhi, will now have to put in some pains to get accustomed to the new pattern.

Though many professors of the best MBA colleges in India haven’t refrained themselves from saying that the new modus operandi will tone out the difficulty level, students are still fearful. After almost a year of preparation on the old pattern the newer one will be a pain to the mind. As it turns out, November 16 and 22 will tell how things turn out to be!

College Over, What Next?

As you pass out of college, your worst apprehensions begin to take shape. There are those who have smashed all benchmarks and are offered a bouquet of opportunities, and there are those who are still trying to figure out a path: but none can deny the indecisiveness that overrules their clarity of vision.

Whether overwhelmed with options or troubled by the dearth of them, hard work in the right and only the right direction can help you reach your goals. You cannot accept just any random job budged by the fat pay-check or just the brand name. A dead end job is as redundant as unemployment, says a placement moderator at an MBA college in India.

IILM : top mba colleges in Delhi

Thus, if you feel that you still aren’t ready with an exact answer to your career goals, you can enhance your skills by taking up some short term course or a full-fledged master’s depending on your expectations and skillset. And retrospection is the key to choose the right course. Retrospect, err, fall, rise and try again- only then can you taste success.

However, some practical preparations can help you gain clarity of vision sooner.

•    Know your skills. Honing what you already have can help you excel sooner than working afresh. Ignore every practical, money-oriented advice you have heard till date for a few seconds and make two list, what you can do really well, and what you like doing. If some items coincide, you are really lucky and might have your answer ready.

•    Talk to your teachers because they are the best judge of your skillset. Be open to criticism and suggestions and show them your list, advices a career counsellor at one of best MBA colleges in India.

•    Pull out all possible courses and industries relevant to it. A thorough online search and ample reading is all it takes.

•    Now that you know what is the desired field or at least have short listed a few vocations, research online about the scope, opportunities, your chances of doing well, colleges, financial liabilities and where do you see yourself after a few years.

•    Now you have your facts and figures ready. Have a thorough discussion with your parents and hopefully you can choose the right course.

Hopefully, this would have given you a direction to begin.

Do not wait for an MNC to appoint you right after college

So finally you are done with masters and now looking forward to get designated at a MNC??? Well, if yes, there’s nothing wrong in it and have every reason to feel butterflies in tummy, but there’s something that has to be understood at your end as well. It’s good enough if you have passed out from one of the best mba colleges in india, but if you are expecting an MNC to give you a call letter right after your college, you are not being smart enough to think rationally. Even if you crack an interview in a small company and you get a call letter to join it ASAP, don’t waste your time much in thinking much about what should be done, whether you should join-in or not. Just go for it!

Ask Yourself- Why MBA?

I have seen people brooding and drooling relentlessly over the idea of doing an MBA after graduation. A degree in MBA from the best MBA College in India is probably the most sought after thing. Long before students graduate, they are forced to ponder over the difficulties of making it to the best MBA College. And it’s a good thing, actually, as long as the students know what they are doing.

IILM : MBA College
Venturing into MBA is tricky and ruthlessly expensive. It’s a demanding move; therefore, you need to be absolutely sure before you embark on this journey. A lot of students, irrespective of their interests, tend to tread on this path, well, just because everybody does.

Many students who adamantly and ignorantly take the decision of pursuing an MBA don’t understand the nuances of management studies in the first place. The decision is nurtured primarily from the stereotypical notions that only under graduation is worthless; that there is an imperative need to seek the greater good by doing a fully fledged MBA. A student might be brilliant enough to get into the best MBA College for Masters in Finance, but if the subject is not of your interest, you would be left grappling to get an exit through its gates for the rest of your lives.

Experts suggest that it’s always better to gain work experience before you start afresh with an MBA college.  Industrial experience gives you an exposure to different fields. This opens a myriad of options for you to consider for a degree in MBA. Before rushing into it, it’s important that you realize where exactly you are heading. Rushing into MBA can prove to be metaphorically fatal for career. In case you are contemplating a career change, think well about your career interests before making a move for MBA.

A right (or no) choice in MBA can either make your career or break you career. Before you even think of going the MBA way, Ask yourself- Why MBA?

Eliminate The Gender Gap Among Students

"For what is done or learned by one class of women becomes, by virtue of their common womanhood, the property of all women." Aptly said by Elizabeth Blackwell, this is the thought that encourages the issue of women empowerment and that could be in any field, whether it be politics, science or education. We can see how women have grown so far that they have grabbed their position in almost every field. But still, there are some areas in which women have to cover a long distance where education is one of the smallest parts. Out of the total MBA students, it has found out that only the 30% proportion of the students are women or girls. Even in the Top MBA College, you will find more of men than women.

Best MBA Colleges in India
One of the reasons could be the financial reasons as getting an MBA degree requires investment that some people can afford and some cannot and those who cannot, don't let their girls pursue further. These kind of people need to know the actual importance of education and the importance of an MBA degree as it gives best career opportunities to it's students. It is one of the opportunities that will make you stand out of the crowd. The best part is that even the MBA College are trying to finish this gender gap among their students.

Many scholarship opportunities for girls have been brought out for the sake of those who can't afford but are passionate to pursue their education. In fact, not only in MBA, there are many other courses I which government has fixed a number of seats that are to be alloted to girls. Whatever left is the ‘Effort’? Yes, the effort that we, the people have to take to educate their sister, daughters and wives. After all, an educated woman can be the best in any field, if given a chance to her.

Understand MBA Study Demands

It is a fact that Business Management Studies can stretch your boundaries and if you can understand what it takes to survive the competition, your battle is half won. Students at an MBA college don’t come from a different planet and neither born with special skills and mental acuity. They worked hard to hone the skills and business acumen though academic pursuits and involvement in current affairs, debates, and events that helped add to their knowledge bank.

Even the best MBA colleges in India agree that the business world is competitive and if one wants to beat the odds, their understanding of the market trend and its demands ought to be at par. Preparation is keynote and being up-to-date with the know-how of your domain of interest and competitors follow through essentially.

The background, cultural and traditional values and beliefs of students at an MBA College are world apart, but I would assume that there is a common thread that binds us all, interestingly, which is preparing for life’s unpredictability. Add to this the study load, assignments and attending seminars and workshops for skill enhancement. By now, you can literally feel the overwhelming weight starting to draw in on your shoulders and don’t get me wrong because I felt the same when I was pursuing MBA.

This is one of those acceptable weights that you would gladly carry on your back because it gives a clear indication of how close you are to achieving that dream degree. This is what keeps you ready for unwarranted situations thus making way for you to face all struggles with tact. The need to be mentally prepared for the Management Studies journey can seem unending, as learning is key to be current with any business domain. And to help you ease and de-clutter, techniques to relax such as meditation and yoga can be helpful.

Gearing up for the MBA challenge

The growing competitive streak has made students look at and explore every possible career option around. And not surprisingly, many of them aspire getting through to one of the top MBA colleges in India, which calls for being on top of the game.

The most important factor while preparing for any of the MBA colleges, or any line of study for that matter, is focus. It’s easy to burden yourself with too much on the plate and end up in a tight spot. Focus doing only a few subjects at a time and swap them between days.

Most MBA colleges put great stress on analytical and logical reasoning. And these require you to sharpen your reasoning and logic skills. The only way for that is practising on as a many samples as you can until you finally pick up the knack. Remember, there is no set methodology to these questions; so you will have to expose yourself to as many to get a good hang of what’s involved.
Overall, the thing with MBA entrance examinations is that they put to the test not only your academic and analytical skills, but also the ability of communication and exchange. You have to come out good on all these aspects before claiming your place any of the top MBA colleges you aspire for.  It’s not all easy-peasy, but with the right attitude and professional guidance, you can definitely cut it.

A good part of your preparations must also go towards the understanding of how the MBA College fits into your future plans.  If you plan for a finance specialization, you must be well aware of what it entails from a professional perspective, the kind of jobs you must be looking at, and above all, the skills for that kind of a job.

The schedule of an MBA student is hectic

The top MBA colleges in India are loaded with pupils training to be the next generation of Chief Executive Officers or CEOs and second-year students are seen to pull 19 hours a day to fulfill this dream. Starting early morning at 5 AM and then falling down straight on bed at midnight. Aside from attending classes, these students are introducing methods incorporated with modern technology as startups and are part of the College club. Their routines are driven down to the minute, while stabilizing the demands of college versus the rest of their lives.

It's a great deal of work, however much like what students at the various other top colleges pursuing MBA courses in Delhi, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Kolkata as so forth, including outstation and foreign exchange students experience.

Just what can you anticipate while doing an MBA? It is difficult to explain a typical week considering that everything students do is so diverse and any Friday night might be invested either going to a lecture, attending a group research, playing football, volleyball, or having a stress-free beverage with pals. So here's an arbitrary, mid-term schedule of just what students at top MBA colleges in India are actually found doing.

Gymning early morning, which spells a run, do workouts and head on. Early morning are spent preparing the entire week, scheduling meetings, updating to-do lists, composing or responding to emails and so on. From sending draft to the MBA Consulting Club to group participants for feedback to browsing through the university for the Financial Times feature. What follows is a morning meal at the campus and then studies.

The MBA students club offers students the opportunity to discuss their enthusiasm for the training course with the added reward of providing them a lot needed for media/communications experience facing the camera. Next follows the conference and mid-day, a great lunch with the group after which the Business Communications lecture follows. The evenings are spared for attending business and financial lectures and strategic marketing for research study at night. Supper follows and the night finishes with students jotting down blog ideas. The remaining hours are left to reflect briefly on how busy the day was and how delighting an MBA college could be.

Managing your time when pursuing Business Management

As challenging and as much as you could attempt to plan every specific task of your MBA college life, often circumstances just take place without prior intimation. You get sick; your laptop or personal computer crashes; you lose the keys to your room; your vehicle breaks down. It is essential to spare as much time as you could throughout finals week for some flex time. In this way, you will undergo no tension when the unpreventable happens, considering that you'll recognize you already have a little time to deal with the unanticipated-- finals. And if nothing occurs and you manage to spare some leisure time, you could reprioritize as required.

IILM :-Top B Schools in India
Top B Schools in India suggest that relaxation is the best form to rejuvenate and clear stress levels. Finals can be unbelievably, surprisingly taxing, and you might not understand just how much it is actually taking a toll on your health until it's over. The psychological stress, absence of sleep, and importance of everything you have to do could be overpowering. The good news is, among the very best points you can do to clear your thoughts is to just allow your mind and body to relax. Setting up downtime could in fact save crucial time to work on things that are on top priority, because you'll be mentally recharged by then. Take a an hour off to read a journal in a coffee shop just outside the college premises; do some postural based exercises while listening to your favourite tracks; go play dumb charades with friends. Allow your brain a pause so it can get back to functioning well instead of being a fatigued pile of slush.

There is nothing like quick repairs. High levels of caffeine, energy enhancing beverages, and various other forms of stimulants could be appealing especially when you feel burnt out. Sadly, short-term solutions can wind up costing time more than what you can afford. This can be detrimental especially when the finals are approaching soon. Rather than banking on a power drink, take the few extra time to consume protein and veggies. You'll feel a lot better, and won't figure yourself in a time-jam.

Create your own pencil/pen holder at College

I anticipate that this remarkable trend that is on right now will last from here on. Goods made from basic, organic, natural products are in. The boosting popularity of leather and steel items is wonderful news for all staying at MBA institute hostels. Because every one of these materials in their raw state are reasonably inexpensive, easy to manage, last forever and need almost no treatment or decoration to look really gorgeous, you can use them to decorate your study desk and dorm as you please.

IILM :- top MBA college in Delhi
It is good news to get admission in your most favoured top B schools in India and it’s been awhile that you have stayed in the campus and would want to re-decorate your dorm or room. While hunting down for fantastic dorm décor concepts and quick guides, you will actually find several gorgeous materials that you can use to attempt at making our own affordable variation of in-room décor items.
When I was studying at a top MBA college in Delhi, I was influenced by this very simple wood toothbrush holder, so I chose to make a wood pencil/pen block from a lumber. Slight sanding and drilling is all it takes, and the charm of the wood talks aloud. I desired to place my own spin to it, so I developed a natural pattern that complied with the refined imperfections in the lumber using small brass and silver nails.

Once you are done with creating an attractive timber pencil block, if you like it simply, you can quickly layer it with a clear sealer or wax and call it done. I added a little decoration to mine, and hence, I created a tribal pattern and called it done. To do this, simply draw a light pattern of your choice onto the wood and very carefully embed little nails on it. This will definitely be an enjoyable item to use and the sight of the pattern taking shape is amazing.

So, you are done with your own DIY wooden pencil/pen holder. Chose to give the block away as a gift to your room-mate or keep it for your own use.

Tips to crack GD of top MBA colleges in India- Part 2

GDs are one of the toughest barriers to crack prior to gaining admission in top MBA colleges in India, but one doesn’t extend their focus to it unless they had cracket the written test, and post that very little time remains to make a substantial difference. It is an impediment for most of the students as they lack fluent communication skills, self-confidence and preparation to stand apart in their group and cast a notable impression on the interviewing panel. In my previous post, we had learned how to develop a firm and steady viewpoint in apt language. In this post we will learn what is the best way and time to present these well formulated answers. The right moment and style can fetch you success while the opposite can ruin the results of your hard work. So, here’s how you can smartly tackle the situation
IILM :- MBA colleges
• If you are a slow analyser don’t pounce upon the topic instantly after it is given. It is not important that you have to be the first speaker; in fact panellists at best MBA colleges say that those candidates who are in a hurry to snatch a topic and make their point before others often lose the essence of what they were trying to convey. Let others start, and wisely use this time to notice what others have to say and to organize your thoughts.

• As aforementioned, swiftly structure your thoughts, but don’t forget to catch what others had to say. You would sound off beat and distracted if your point is not in clear reference to what was being discussed, which is counted negatively. Even if your point is slightly offbeat from others’ but is very relevant to the topic, don’t panic; instead link it to the last speaker or someone who had approached the question from your side of reasons (for or against) as “from what Mr X has said, I would like to add another perspective to look at things” and so on.

• Now tip of the day is, try to conclude the topic when last 35 seconds remain as it contains extra points. However, don’t overpower someone else if they have already started, as this is a common trick and others will also be waiting for the opportunity. It is rather momentarily, if you could manage to take the opportunity first, take it and exploit it to the fullest, says a candidate after successfully passing through GDs at several MBA colleges. Be crisp, polite and don’t forget to include some points from both the approaches, for and against. This is the time to show your diplomacy skills and not to strongly propagate your own point.
Good luck!

Tips to crack GD of top MBA colleges in India- Part 1

Are you striving to get admission in one of the top MBA colleges in India? Then scoring well in CAT will not suffice. Most MBA aspirants buckle up and study hard. Their key focus is only on time management, building vocab and eliminating errors in calculation. It takes a sturdy preparation to beat the exam and score better than the rest striving to take admission in the best MBA courses in Delhi. However, what escapes our attention is an essential phase of the admission process: Group Discussions. So, here are some tips which when combined with hard work, are sure to furnish results. These tips are divided into two parts- what you need to do in a GD, but firstly, what you need in order to be able to do that. Here is the part 1 read on my next post once you have mastered these tricks.

IILM :- MBA courses in Delhi
• Polish your communication skills in English. You know the language by now to crack the verbal ability section, so it is time now that you started practicing oral communication. You can join classes for spoken English if you need help; or if you only need to overcome the hesitation then converse with your friends in the language and practice in front of a mirror.

• A clear structure of thoughts is the next thing you need to master. Thoughts, lost and confused are more likely to get lost in the mayhem when everyone is trying to make their points. A simple theory if clearly expressed can fetch you more points than a complicated blabber which fails to make any point clearly; diplomacy isn’t the key to a GD. Take up some debatable current affair topics and question yourself, “How do I feel about it”. Try to have a steady mind-set about anything instead of swivelling between two different lines of thoughts, says an expert at one of the top MBA colleges in India

• Now when you have trained yourself to quickly form brief and steady ideas about anything, try to narrate it to yourself in a crisp and brief language, without making use of the fillers. You would automatically notice a boost in self-confidence when you’ll get in practice of doing it.

MBA students: Improving Communication skills

Top MBA Colleges in India suggest that Business Management candidates need to master their interaction abilities and communication skills to execute well in a reputed company or institution and keep their nerves intact when faced with queries that examine them in the business world. They would certainly have a higher preference over others, if they have excellent and impressive interaction capabilities.

Top 10 MBA institute in India suggest convenient tips to boost interaction capabilities

IILM :- Top B Schools in India
Read- Reading is the main contributor to effective communication. Pick up any journal, diary, and story book or for that matter a newspaper and do make it a routine to read it out loud. It has usually been observed that when an individual talks, he falls short of words. The words are somewhere concealed in his mind and somehow do not follow out in his talks. When you review and read out loud, after some time, words automatically fall in place which further boosts your interaction abilities. If you come across any sort of a new word, do look at its significance and attempt to include it in your speech. Reviewing likewise enhances your basic expertise and makes you familiar with just what is taking place around you. Check out new books or journals which interest you.

Hold On- Do not be in a rush to refine your interaction abilities in a day. There is no medicine or any sort of magical potion which could boost your communication abilities in 24 hours. You need to be patient and provide yourself time. Never ever feel dejected if others speak better than you, as an alternative note, seek their assistance. It is appropriately mentioned that hard work and constant practice polishes your skills- this is a great deal. Whatever language you want to master, try to communicate in the very same language with your family and friends for the best flow of words. Never feel ashamed if you are wrong, learn from your errors. Stand in front of the mirror and talk out loud. Ask questions and answer them yourself. Be your own critique- it works!

One has to be very certain and should take on the best perspective. Nothing is feasible if you do not have the right approach and mind-set.  Be self-motivated to interact effectively. Whenever you learn a brand-new word, give yourself a treat.
