Role Of A Placement Cell Coordinator In An MBA College

Out of lakhs of students who give various entrances in hopes of gaining admission in the leading MBA colleges, only a few thousand manage to actually get through. Let me ask you a question. What is the first thing that comes to your mind when someone discusses the term MBA? Students furiously taking copious notes, students dressed in crisp formals giving presentations, students holding late-night group study sessions, etc. are pictures that immediately flash in my head. But my mind forgets to picture one of the most crucial parts of an MBA college - placements!

IILM - Top B Schools in India

My friend studies in one of the top MBA institutes in India and was the only girl from her entire batch who managed to become one of the placement cell coordinators of her college. Considering she has so much work with the added responsibility of managing the placements for her college, she recently managed to take out an hour to catch up with me. I asked her about the role she has to fulfil. One of the major responsibilities, she said, is bringing the top companies to the college. She told me how, despite the college being so renowned, it was unable to convince one top company to come to the college. She excitedly and proudly told me how she and the other two placement cell coordinators after days of hard work and research broke new ground by finally bringing that company to their college for placements.

Other responsibilities of placement cell coordinators include sorting the profiles companies are hiring for on the basis of courses, informing the respective students, holding group discussions and interviews efficiently, and then informing the selected students. Becoming a placement cell coordinator in the top MBA colleges in Delhi is quite challenging as the faculty selects only the best ones who can proudly represent the college. So when you manage to get through one of the best MBA colleges, make sure you go all out to become the placement cell coordinator. Best of luck!

My Struggle Of Getting Admission In My Dream Management School

Extraordinary achievements are most often achieved by those who struggle the most and yet do not let their circumstances become their excuse for failure. Have you ever noticed that so many times, the top rankers of competitive exams of the highest standards belong to the poorest of families? I have read so many interviews of just such brilliant students who succeeded in getting admission in the top management college against all odds. Without receiving expensive coaching classes I took for granted a few years back when appearing for the entrances, these students achieved their dreams through sheer dedication and hard work.

IILM - Get Admission in Top MBA College

Let me tell you my story: I took a year off after completing my graduation to prepare for MBA entrances. I joined the best coaching institute in Delhi and even attended my classes regularly. Overconfident of my abilities, I barely put in any extra effort. I attended classes, but that’s all I did. I practiced subjects I liked and completely ignored the topics I detested. I probably was banking on my luck. An MBA aspirant who seriously wishes to get through one of the top ranked MBA colleges in Delhi never has any free time. He/she is almost always busy- sometimes preparing for the mock tests and the other times just brushing up the basics. I, on the other hand, seemed to have all the free time in the world. My cousin actually thought I had taken a year off to just chill. Considering I didn’t perform spectacularly in any of the entrances, I wasn’t expecting great results. But when the results did come out, I was stunned and shattered. Never had I performed so horribly in my life of 21 years.

But I picked myself up again and decided to make a fresh departure. After all, that’s the reason behind the existence of problems and failures. This time I did everything I didn’t do the last time. I studied so hard that I surprised myself. My goal of getting admission in India’s top management college was crystal clear and I couldn’t afford to make any mistake. And the result, you ask? I got the desired course in my dream college and am currently in my second year of college. Well, they say it right; difficulties do enable us to forge our character and come out as stronger individuals!

Indispensable Skills Needed In Human Resource Management

Finance, HR, and Marketing are the most popular MBA specializations in India. And because the roles of all three types of managers vary so greatly from one another, it is only natural that each type of manager has his/her own unique set of skills. So if you are pursuing an MBA in HR, here are some indispensable skills you need to have to work effectively and efficiently in your department:

1.    Organization
It is one of the key skills an HR manager must possess and polish. While the top MBA colleges in India can equip you with the know-how of your future role, you have to make assiduous efforts to be organized at your role. This is because HR managers carry the huge responsibility of dealing with the careers of all the employees of an organization.

2.    Multitasking
The bigger the organization, the better you should be at multitasking. There would be days when you’ll have to deal with multiple issues at the same time. Sorting out employees’ complaints and personal issues, granting sudden leaves, negotiating for salary packages- you might have to handle all these activities in a single day, leaving you exhausted.

3.    Good communication
Well, this is one skill that no manager- be it in finance, HR, or marketing- can do without. Being responsible for the precious human resources of the organization, you would have to communicate with current and potential employees, management, and other people on a regular basis.

4.    Problem solving attitude
Be it the management or the employees- everyone would come to you for all organization-related issues they may be facing. MBA colleges in India train the students to treat problems as challenges and that each challenge can be overcome. As an HR manager you have to make sure you don’t get bogged down with such issues and rather find constructive solutions.

Want To Nail The Written Ability Test? Read on!

If you have been reading about the selection procedures which take place in top MBA colleges, I am sure you know what a written ability test is. A clear thought process and an ability to put down your thoughts into well-written, logical sentences is what you are required to do if you wish to qualify for the next round. But simple as it may sound, clearly expressing your point of view in a clear, unambiguous, and impactful manner within a set time limit is not an easy task. You need to practice thoroughly beforehand if you wish to secure admission in the top management college of your choice. So here are a few tips that would help you master this art:

1.    Practice a lot

The topic in itself is not likely to be difficult.  And even if you manage to put together sentences that make sense, the prospects of you qualifying to the next round would be bleak without enough practice. Hence, practice is the key element that can fulfil your dream of studying in one of the top ranked MBA colleges in Delhi. You would easily be able to find the topics that were given to the students in the previous years on the internet. Going through those would give you a fair idea of going about it.

 2.    Coherence

Pick up any article/essay that you loved. Now scramble all the sentences. Does the article still appeal to you? An essay without proper coherence is unlikely to impress the readers. Hence make sure your article is well-structured!

3.    Time management

If you are unable to complete your essay on time, even a well-written article would not help your case. Time management is one of the most crucial aspects in the corporate world, and hence it is extremely important for you to fare well on this parameter as well. Make sure you learn to manage your time well.

I wish you best of luck!
