WANT A SUCCESSFUL MBA APPLICATION? HERE’S HOW!

So now in this rapidly growing economy of ours, a large section of the society aims at being a part of the richer circle of the society. This ambitious lot is now juggling between life and career, between their passion and responsibility. The stress of being successful entwined with the lack of patience and lack of time. From choosing the right mba colleges in India, to preparing for the entrances; becoming an MBA graduate has become a gruesome task. A successful business school application requires significant time, planning, and self-reflection. Here, in this blog we study the ways to make your MBA application attractive and successful:

•    REGISTER AND PREPARE FOR GMAT:

One of the first steps in the business school application process is to prepare for the GMAT because students require at least 3-6 months of preparation to achieve their full potential. It is a good idea to determine a target score before beginning your preparation. Next, take a diagnostic exam so you can identify your strengths, weaknesses, and the improvements that will be necessary to reach your target score.

•    KNOW YOURSELF PROFESSIONALLY AND PERSONALLY:

Besides, an impressive GMAT score and application, you need to convince the committee that you are an ideal fir for their school, hence you need to know yourself, your potential, your strengths and weakness inside out.

•    REACH OUT TO POTENTIAL RECOMMENDERS:

Connect with possible recommenders well in advance of the application deadlines in order to reinforce these relationships and ensure that these individuals know you well so that they may provide the strongest possible recommendation.

•    DECIDE ON YOUR SCHOOL AND PLAN DEADLINES:

With top business schools in india at your disposal, you have a myriad of schools appealing to you. Once you take the GMAT, develop your admissions strategy, and research each school as it relates to your long term goals, you should finalize the list of schools to which you will apply.

•    RESUME:

Pay attention on the experience that you mention on your resume, make sure it is as relevant to the field as possible.

Importance Of Work Experience

Graduates fresh out of college often wonder if they should pursue MBA straightaway, or work for a few years first. After graduating from college, I too battled a similar dilemma.  Since I was very confused, I started preparing for various MBA entrances. My father asked me to do some research and find out more about the best MBA colleges in India.

I did not score well in majority of the entrances which resulted in a bad state of mind and low self-confidence. I was still confused but I replaced confusion with action. I decided to apply for jobs. Even though I still wanted to pursue MBA, I had no better option. I am happy to report that I have started working and am learning so much with each passing day. Here are a few reasons you should work for a few years before pursuing MBA:

  • More Clarity

I did get a call from an average institute on the basis of an entrance in which I had surprisingly performed well. The interviewer sensed my apparent lack of clarity and advised me to start working. Working in the corporate world would familiarise you with its workings. You would realize if you really want to pursue MBA in future.

  • Personality Development

Assuming that you have a good work profile, you would get to hone your skills helping you shape your personality. You would gain more confidence which would further help you in your future interviews and in giving presentations in a B school.

  • Facilitates Selection

A solid work experience would improve your chances of getting admission into one of Delhi’s top 20 MBA colleges. A candidate having a few years of work experience would always be preferred over a candidate with similar skills but no work experience.
I plan to give MBA entrances again, but after 2 years. I am confident I would be more prepared and focused at that time.
