The Increasing Popularity Of MBA courses

For those who haven’t figured it out already, the first question that comes to the mind after completing graduation is – what next? Being from a commerce background, my first option naturally was MBA.  But getting admission in the top 10 Business Schools of Delhi is no cakewalk. It requires months of rigorous hard work.

It is recommended to take coaching classes from a reputed institute whose senior and experienced teachers can help the aspirants in all possible manner.  Apart from that self-study is imperative. Just as a dancer can’t afford not practicing on a daily basis, a student aspiring for admission in a good college cannot afford to miss even one practice session.

Undoubtedly, MBA has always been a very popular course. With passage of time, more and more people have started applying to MBA colleges. Is the increasing popularity of this course genuine, or are the students just following their fellow classmates and seniors? I don’t have a definitive answer, but I know of people who want to pursue a career in management because that is probably the ‘safest’ move. Sometimes people don’t mind settling for average colleges because MBA is not their passion. Passionate people never take anything but the best, unless there are other factors influencing their decisions.

One major reason behind the increasing popularity of MBA courses is ‘more money’. But let me clarify, the best of companies recruit the best of people from the best of colleges.  The degree itself does not guarantee a lucrative package. At times, graduates and post graduates get the same package.
I wonder if people like Rancho (Aamir Khan) from 3 idiots exist, who study to learn, and develop themselves and not for the degree’s sake. MBA is definitely a prestigious course, and in no way do I intend to discourage people wanting to pursue it. If you think MBA is the right option, brace yourselves up for the challenge and don’t look back.
